SEN. GRACE POE ONLY SON’S LIMITED EDITION SHOES DRAW MIXED REACTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA
The only son of Presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe, is currently under fire after sharing a photo of him flaunting a very expensive brand of shoes on his social media account on Thursday.
Brian Poe Llamanzares wears the limited edition of the 2011 Nike Mag10 Back to the Future II Marty McFly 2015 which cost a whooping $19,000 on eBay. Pinoy Trending News reported.
Based upon estimates the shoe costs around P839,000 pesos if converted to Philippine money or $1:47 peso exchange rate.
The controversial photo made non-Grace Poe supporters more agitated with some noted that the senator son’s only showcased the true status of their life which is contrary to the image of his mother which is pro-poor.
One page dedicated for Poe’s non-supporters even shared the photo with the caption:
“Sapatos pa lang halos isang milyon na tapos sabi ni Grace Poe wala silang pera? So anu yun, paawa effect lang para masabing maka-masa? Paano pa kaya kapag presidente na, gintong sapatos ba?”
Poe immediately came to the rescue and defended her son on Friday telling reporters during an interview that Brian can afford to buy the shoe since he worked as a neophyte reporter from one of the TV stations in the Philippines. However, he took a leave to help his mother, who is running for president in the May 2016 elections.
Poe even asked her son about it when the issue first came out about a month ago. Though she didn’t agree with it, she said that as long as it’s her son’s saving he used to buy the shoes there’s nothing wrong with it.
“Basta galing sa pinaghirapan mo, pinag-ipunan mo hindi mo naman ninakaw at siguraduhin mo naman na hindi naman labis-labis at ‘yung sa kanya naman matagal din nang pinag-ipunan din ‘yun. ‘Yun lang naman ‘yung sa kanya,” she said.
