Colangco and ten other convicts affidavit: De Lima gets 3 Million every month from drug money in Bilibid
Former Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, the neophyte senator, collected millions of pesos from high-profile inmates in New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City while she was still head of the said department during the Aquino administration.
This was from the sworn affidavits obtained by the Philippine Star that the 10 high-profile inmates submitted to the Department of Justice, including Herbert “Ampang” Colangco.
Colangco also revealed a group of gangs of inmates from the Visayas and Mindanao called the “Carcel Side” which he leads, had given De Lima 3 million Pesos each month.
According to Colangco, the money that goes to De Lima is for her approval of their privileges and for allowing their businesses, such as selling beer, inside the Bilibid.
They earn another 3 million Pesos from 300 boxes, 10 times more than the original price.
“Ang hindi susunod sa kanyang gusto ay tinatakot na ipapatapon. Naniniwala ang mga tao sa loob ng Bilibid na pwedeng gawin ito sa kanila ni Jaybee Sebastian dahil alam nila ito ay malapit kay secretary De Lima lalo na sa boyfriend nito na si Ronnie Dayan,” he added in the sworn statement signed last Sept. 1.
Jaybee Sebastian was the leader of the counterpart of Carcel Side, called Presidio Side.
The group consists of over 5,000 inmates.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has confirmed that Colangco, fellow drug convict Noel Martinez and the 10 other inmates would testify before the House of Representatives inquiry on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the NBP.
