Cebu Pac flight with 300 Manila-bound passengers stranded in Mumbai for 3 days
A Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai bound for Manila got diverted to Mumbai, India on June 29.
An advisory of posted on Friday said that flight 5J015 was divereted to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 10:40 a.m. on June 29 because of a “technical requirement.”
Cebu Pacific, however, did not give details in its advisory.
The flight carried 347 passengers who had to wait inside the aircraft while their special entry permits to India were processed.
They had to stay in Mumbai as their transfers were finalized.
Cebu Pacific provided meals and accommodations for all of the affected passengers. Travel desks were also set up at the hotels.
As of 8:10 p.m. Friday, 252 passengers secured flights to Manila via other airlines.
“We regret the inconvenience this has caused our passengers and hope for their understanding since our priority is their safety,” Cebu Pacific said in their advisory.
